Panna Cotta with strawberry Sauce


                Panna Cotta is an Italian dessert. It literally means cooked cream. It is made in just 10 - 15 minutes. its been a panna Cotta month at my home. Tried it once & me & my hubby have got addicted to it. Sharing the recipe with you all as well.

               Set the panna cotta in the glasses like I have done. Impress your family & friends with this party dessert. Its a sure shot hit. Your family & friends are gonna go crazy for this dessert by its appearance & taste both.




Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes


Ingredients:

For Panna Cotta:
  • Heavy Whipping Cream 500 ml
  • 50 ml cold milk
  • Gelatin leaves 4
  • Vanilla sugar or normal sugar 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla essence 1 tsp
For Strawberry Sauce:
  • Fresh strawberries 400 gms
  • Sugar 1/3 cup (u can vary the amount of sugar depending on the sweetness of strawberries)
  • Water 2 tbsp.



 
Method:

For Panna Cotta:
  • Soak gelatin leaves in cold milk. Cut the leaves into 4 pieces so that the leaves are soaked fully. Leave it to rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the leaves will soften & become spongy. Set aside.
  • In a heavy bottomed pan, pour the cream & sugar. Heat it on low to medium flame. Keep stirring occasionally. The cream should be hot enough to let the gelatin dissolve in itself.  
  • After around 15 minutes, the cream will be very hot. Now add to the gelatin milk mixture. Stir well until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Also add vanilla essence & stir.
  • Make a tray ready with a napkin in it. Arrange the glasses in it in a tilted position.
  • Transfer the cream mixture in the glass beaker. Then pour it in the tilted glasses (makes easy to transfer it in the glasses). Very carefully transfer the tray of glasses in refrigerator & let it sit there undisturbed. Let them chill. Chill atleast for 3 hours to let the panna cotta set.
For Strawberry Sauce:
  • Wash the strawberries well. Remove its leaves. Cut each strawberry in 4 parts.
  • Put the chopped strawberries in a pan alongwith sugar & water.
  • Bring it to a boil.
  • Switch off the heat.
  • Let the mixture cool down.
  • Them grind it in a smooth puree.
  • Strain the sauce. Let the sauce chill in the fridge.
  • Pour the sauce in the glass of pannacotta just while serving.




Tips:
  • 500 ml cream makes about 6 glasses of the size I used. You can also use small glasses for setting the panna cotta.
  • Instead of using glasses you can also set the pannacotta in bowls.

Gelatin Leaves.... I used.


Cut them into small pieces so that you need
 not add much milk to soak them


Soak them in chilled milk


Leave it aside for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, you will notice the gelatin leaves
will have softened. They are now ready to use.
 


Heat cream in a pan on low-medium flame
 for around 10 - 15 minutes..


Stir occasionally.


Add sugar & vanilla essence. Stir.



After 10 - 15 minutes, Switch off the heat.
Immediately add the softened gelatin leaves.


Also the leftover milk from the gelatin leaves.
 Stir well until gelatin is fully dissolved.




Arrange a tray of tilted glasses in a tray with the help
 of a towel as shown in the figure.



Pour the cream mixture in the tilted glasses.
Very carefully transfer the glasses in the
 fridge & let it stay there undisturbed
 for 3 hours to set. After the panna cotta is
set, pour the strawberry sauce in the
 glasses just while serving.
