I just love Methi Theplas. They are very healthy due to its main ingredient.. Fenugreek leaves. Easy to make. You can also carry in your day trips & have it in between. Here is my recipe of making it.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
- Wheat Flour 1 & 1/2 cups
- Gram Flour/Besan 1/2 cup
- Rice Flour 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Red Chili Powder 1 tsp
- Garam Masala 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Powder 1/2 tsp
- Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp
- Asafetida
- Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
- Green Chili - Ginger Paste 1 tsp
- Chopped Fenugreek leaves 1 cup
- Yoghurt 1/2 cup
- Water for kneading
- Oil
- In a mixing bowl, take wheat flour, gram flour, rice flour, salt to taste, red chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, cumin seeds powder, asafetida, turmeric powder, green chili-ginger paste, yoghurt & 1 tbsp oil . Mix. Now also add chopped fenugreek leaves. Mix well.
- Add water little by little to make a soft dough.
- Grease the dough with some oil.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Now divide the dough into medium sized balls.
- Dust some wheat flour on the rolling board & roll each dough ball into a flat circular roti using a rolling pin. Use more wheat flour if required (if the dough sticks to the rolling pin or rolling board.
- Now roast this roti on a hot tawa till golden spots appear on both sides.
- Apply ghee on both sides.
- Serve hot with yoghurt which is seasoned with salt to taste & red chili powder !!
