Chicken 65 is a dish originating from Chennai. It was introduced in 1965. There are various reasons told by different people why it was named "65".
It is basically a snack. It is sooo tasty. Please check the recipe below.
- Oil
- 2- 3 Dried red chilies
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 10-15 Curry leaves
- For Chicken marinade:
- 400 gm Chicken Breasts
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 1 tsp Corn Flour/Rice Flour
- 1 tbsp Maida
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- Salt to taste
- For Yoghurt Batter:
- 1/2 cup Curd
- 1/2 tsp Maida (for binding)
- 1 tsp Red chili powder
- Pinch of salt
- For Garnish:
- Chopped Coriander Leaves
- Fresh Scraped Coconut
- Cut Chicken breasts in slanting manner in small cubes (it makes chicken tender).
- Marinate it with above mentioned ingredients for about an hour.
- Deep fry the chicken pieces till crispy(golden brown). You can also shallow fry them. That's what I do.
- Blend the ingredients for the yoghurt batter well. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- Add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add cumin seeds, red chilies, curry leaves & the yoghurt batter to it.
- Add fried chicken.
- Continue to heat till all yoghurt is absorbed by the chicken.
- Garnish with coriander leaves & fresh scrapped coconut.
