Tiramisu (Alcohol Free)



            Tiramisu is an Italian dessert. It generally contains alcohol. But this is an alcohol free version of the Tiramisu. Give it a try & leave your comments below.
 
            Recipe for the same is given below along with step by step picture presentation.





Ingredients:
  • 30 sponge fingers (often called “Boudoir” biscuits)
  • 5 egg yolks (depends on the size of the egg)
  • 250 g mascarpone cheese
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 250 ml (1 cup) whipping cream
  • 3 tsp of instant coffee dissolved in ½ cup hot water
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • A few drops of vanilla essence
  • Almond flakes
  • Cocoa powder
  • sugar powder

Method:
  • Place a layer of sponge fingers in the bottom of a wide rectangular or square box.
  • Sprinkle half of the coffee and keep the box to one side.
  • Mix together properly the lemon juice and mascarpone cheese. Set aside.
  • Place a bowl above a pan of boiling water. Mix together the egg yolks, 5 tbsp sugar (reserve 1 tbsp. sugar for later), lemon zest and vanilla essence in that bowl. Cook with frequent stirring for around 25-30 minutes until the mixture becomes creamy. (Tips: The color fades, becomes very light yellow). Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • When the egg mixture is cool enough to handle mix it into the cheese - lemon juice mixture.
  • Pour half of the cheese mixture onto the sponge fingers. Spread the mixture evenly.
  • Place above it the remaining sponge fingers in a layer, sprinkle on the remaining coffee, then pour on the remaining cheese mixture. Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  • Whip together the cream, 2-3 drops vanilla essence & 1 tbsp. sugar. Spead the cream over the tiramisu base.
  • Sprinkle on it some good amount of cocoa powder, some sugar & almond flakes. Chill well before serving.

Step by Step Picture Presentation:

Ingredients !!


Take a wide square box. Place half of the
finger biscuits at the bottom of the box.
Sprinkle half of the coffee over it.

Keep water in a vessel for
heating on medium heat.

Place a bowl containing 5 egg yolks,
5 tbsp. sugar, vanilla essence &
lemon zest over the pan of boiling water.
 

The egg mixture will first turn runny
& then a custard like texture.
It takes almost 20 - 25 minutes.



The egg mixture will also fade in color.



Mix mascarpone cheese & lemon juice. Stir well.

Add egg mixture to the mascarpone mixture. Stir well.

Mascarrpone & Egg Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone - egg
 mixture over the finger biscuits

Place remaining half of the finger biscuits over it.
Sprinkle remaining coffee over it.

Spread remaining mascarpone - egg mixture over the biscuits.
Chill it for 2 hours !!

Add whipping cream, 2 -3 drops of vanilla
essence & 1 tbsp. sugar in a bowl.
Whip it till soft peaks are formed.

Pour the whipped cream over the set biscuits in the box.

Spread it evenly.

Sprinkle some cocoa powder over the whipped cream.


Sprinkle 1 tsp sugar powder
over the cocoa powder.


Sprinkle almond flakes over it.
Chill for 4 hours !!
