Panna Cotta is an Italian dessert. It literally means cooked cream. It is made in few minutes. & its been a panna Cotta week at my home. Tried it once & me & my hubby have got addicted to it. Sharing the recipe with you all as well.
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
- Heavy Whipping Cream 500 ml
- 50 ml cold milk
- Gelatin leaves 4
- Vanilla sugar or normal sugar 1/3 cup
- Vanilla essence 1 tsp
- 8-10 Strawberries
- Soak gelatin leaves in cold milk. Cut the leaves into 4 pieces so that the leaves are soaked fully. Leave it to rest for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the leaves will soften & become spongy. Set aside.
- In a heavy bottomed pan, pour the cream & sugar. Heat it on low to medium flame. Keep stirring occasionally. The cream should be hot enough to let the gelatin dissolve in itself.
- After around 15 minutes, the cream will be very hot. Now add to the gelatin milk mixture. Stir well until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Also add vanilla essence & stir.
- Grind 7-8 strawberries into a puree. Add this strawberries puree to the hot cream mixture. Chop the remaining strawberries into small pieces. Add this strawberries pieces also to the cream mixture. Stir well.
- Pour the cream mixture in small ramekin bowls. Let them chill. Chill atleast for 3 hours to let the panna cotta set.
- Serve it chilled.
Tips:
- Don't heat the cream on high flame otherwise the cream will stick to the bottom of the pan & burn.
- While unmolding the panna cotta from the bowls, first put the bowl in hot water for 2 seconds. Now remove the panna cota on a plate.
Gelatin Leaves.... I used. |
Cut them into small pieces so that you need not add much milk to soak them |
Soak them in chilled milk |
Leave it aside for 10 minutes. |
After 10 minutes, you will notice the gelatin leaves will have softened. They are now ready to use. |
Heat cream in a pan on low-medium flame for around 10 - 15 minutes.. |
Stir occasionally. |
Add sugar & vanilla essence. Stir. |
After 10 - 15 minutes, Switch off the heat. Immediately add the softened gelatin leaves. |
Also the leftover milk from the gelatin leaves. Stir well until gelatin is fully dissolved. |
Grind 7 - 8 strawberries into a puree. |
Add this strawberry puree to the cream. |
Chop remaining strawberries into small pieces. Add this to the cream. |
Stir well. |
Pour this mixture into bowls. Chill for atleast 3 hours until set. |
