Everyone loves Aloo Tikki. How about enjoying Chaat prepared with aloo tikki. Tastes awesome. It is a great starter for parties. The interesting part is it is so simple to prepare.
Ingredients:
- Aloo Tikki
- 4 Potatoes boiled, peeled & mashed
- Salt to taste
- Red Chili Powder 1 tsp
- Oil
- Filling
- Soaked Urad Dal for 4 hours 1/2 cup
- 2 Green Chilies chopped very finely
- Coriander Leaves finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 inch ginger finely chopped
- Garnish
- Curd 2 cups
- 1 onion finely chopped
- Coriander leaves finely chopped
- Fine Sev
- Papdis 3 - 4 Optional
- Coriander - Mint Chutney
- Tamarind Chutney
- Chaat Masala
- Filling: Drain urad dal. Add to it finely chopped green chilies, finely chopped coriander leaves, salt to taste & finely chopped ginger. Mix.
- Aloo Tikki: Add salt & red chili powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix well. Take a portion of mashed potatoes in your palm, spread slightly, place a portion of the dal mixture in the center and gather the edges and shape into a tikki. Form such tikkis with the rest of the potato mixture & dal mixture.
- Heat a tawa. Shallow fry these tikkis in oil till browned from both sides. Remove on a paper napkin when done.
- Assemble: In a serving plate, place a tikki. Top it up with yoghurt, coriander - mint chutney & tamarind chutney. Garnish with finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, fine sev & small broken pieces of papdi. Sprinkle chaat masala & red chili powder over it.
- You can use moong dal instead of urad dal for the filling.
- You can also skip the dal filling & just prepare the tikki like that but add the seasoning ingredients of the filling to the tikki itself.
