I have always made cookies with all purpose flour. Today I thought lets give it a try using wheat flour. I made them & wow. They tasted equally great. I made eggless version. I also added some oats to this recipe. Try this healthy healthy cookies for your kids. They can have them for their small lunch times or just when they are home from school. You can take them for your picnics too.
Ingredients:
- 100 gms (1/2 cup) butter at room temp
- 140 gms (1 cup) sugar powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 - 2 tbsp. Milk (Optional)
- 60 gms (1/2 cup) oats
- 180 gms (1 & 1/2 cup) wheat flour
- 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- Choco Chips1 tbsp.
- Preheat oven to 180 degree Celcius.
- Mix all dry ingredients - wheat flour, cocoa powder, oats & baking soda. Keep aside.
- Beat butter in a bowl till its creamy. Add sugar powder to it. Mix with a spatula first. Beat it with a beater. Add Vanilla essence to it. Mix again.
- Add the dry ingredients mix to it.
- Stir well with a spatula. Don't over mix it.
- Add the chocolate chips to it. Mix again well.
- Make small round balls from it. Flatten it a bit. Place it in a oven tray.
- Keep the tray of cookie balls in oven.
- Bake for around 12 to 15 minutes.
- Later remove on a rack. Let them cool down. Then transfer them to an airtight container.
Tips:
- You can replace wheat flour with all purpose flour if you want.
- You can also use half wheat flour & half all purpose flour.
- If you don't have chocolate chips, just take a chocolate bar of your choice & chop them in small chunks.
- You can skip oats if you don't like them.
- If you feel the dough very dry add a tbsp. of milk.
- If you feel the dough is very moist, add a spoonful of flour or oats. or just refrigerate it for some time. The dough becomes tight.
- Baking time will vary depending on the thickness of cookies & quantities.
- If you want chewy cookies, baking time of 12 minutes is perfect. But if you want crunchy cookies, bake for 3 - 4 minutes extra. But keep an eye, they might get burnt soon.
